On January 29, 2025, the German Ethics Council (Deutscher Ethikrat) announced its selected topics for official opinions in the current term. Following a public meeting on January 23, the Council chose two key areas of focus:

• The well-being of people in need of care and of caregivers in long-term care settings 
  
• Neurotechnology as a game changer: Harnessing opportunities responsibly 
  

These topics are of particular relevance to the Digital Health and Data Science community in Bayreuth, as they directly address ethical and societal challenges at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and data-driven innovation. The focus on neurotechnology also aligns with current research interests in AI-assisted rehabilitation and brain-computer interfaces.
